Bulgarian boxer Kubrat Pulev looks set to take on Britain's Anthony Joshua, after AJ retained his heavyweight titles against Andy Ruiz Jr in 2019. Joshua will fight to keep his belts once again, against the 38 year-old IBF mandatory challenger this summer in London.

In 2005 Pulev gained attention from the boxing world, after claiming the bronze medal at the amateur World Boxing Championships. However, it wasn't until 2009 that he made pro, taking gold in the European Championships.

Throughout Pulev's incredible career he's an impressive boxing record, claiming 28 victories out of 29, winning 14 by knockout. In 2013, after a year out from boxing Pulev stated: “The problem was that a lot of fighters did not want to fight me... They all saw me as a tough challenge" (via Ring TV).  

In 2014, Pulev was met with the only defeat of his professional career, against Wladmir Klitschko. Could Pulev regain his winning streak against Joshua?

Who will Pulev fight next?

Last year, British boxing promoter Eddie Hearn revealed that British boxer Anthony Joshua "will almost certainly" face Kubrat Pulev in an interview with iFL TV.

Pulev's promoter Bob Arum cemented these claims when he vowed that “by that time [end of 2020], there ain’t going to be an Anthony Joshua as a top fighter. I’ve got a Bulgarian named Pulev who’s going to knock him on his ass in his next fight" (via Talk Sport).

Where will Pulev's next fight take place?

Pulev looks likely to fight on British soil, after several UK news articles have reported a deal at London's Tottenham Hotspur Stadium is 'very close' to being agreed.

Although Spurs' stadium has been the favoured host for some time, there have also been rumours leaked by Bulgarian press that the Pulev v Joshua fight could be staged in Istanbul, Turkey, at the Besiktas FC’s Vodafone Park Stadium.

When is Pulev's next fight?

It was initially reported that Pulev will face Joshua on the 23rd / 30th May or 6th June. However, a recent tweet from Yorkshire Sport Press claims the fight will, in fact, take place on '13 or 20 June 20 in London'.
