Anthony Joshua will get the opportunity to seek revenge on Oleksandr Usyk this July.
Joshua’s reign as heavyweight champion was ended by Usyk, who defeated him by unanimous decision at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in September.
The Ukrainian champion currently holds the WBA, WBO and IBF belts. Shortly after Usyk claimed the titles, Joshua officially triggered a rematch clause.
Joshua’s promoter Eddie Hearn told talkSPORT: “The fight’s all done, it’s all agreed. It’s 100 per cent Anthony Joshua vs Oleksandr Usyk the rematch.”
The rematch is a must-win for Joshua, if he is to get a chance at fighting Tyson Fury to unify the world titles.
The date for the Joshua v Usyk rematch has been confirmed for July 23rd and there is heavy speculation over the venue for the second clash as it is still yet to be confirmed.

Joshua V Usyk 2 is set to take place on Saturday July 23rd 2022.
The highly anticipated rematch was put on hold due to Usyk returning to Ukraine. He has set his focus back on the fight and returned to training last month writing on social media: "That's how I will help my country more and it's better than being in territorial defence and running around Kyiv with a machine gun."
Usyk and WBC champion Fury were given a 30-day window to arrange an undisputed clash, however Fury fought and won against mandatory challenger Dillian Whyte in April, announcing his retirement from boxing after his win.
The Gypsy King retirement has been widely doubted as many speculate the results of the Joshua V Usyk rematch could tempt Fury out of retirement for a potentially exhilarating showdown between Fury and Joshua.
Anthony Joshua v Oleksandr Usyk 2 location
The location of the rematch is still to be confirmed but there is speculation that it will likely take place in either Saudi Arabia or the UK. Hearn revealed they are in the ‘final negotiations’ for confirming the location. Usyk the 35-year-old Ukrainian boxer originally hoped the fight could take place in Kyiv which is no longer possible due to the conflict in Russia.
If the rematch takes place in the UK, there is a high chance Joshua and Usyk could return to Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. The other possible UK locations in the UK are Cardiff’s Principality Stadium.
The location is expected to be finalised within the coming weeks.
Why is Tottenham Hotspur Stadium the ideal location?
Tottenham Hotspur Stadium hosted the previous Joshua v Usyk fight in September, a spectacular event that was the first of its kind for the new billion-pound stadium. The stadium has a unique retractable pitch with synthetic grass enabling the ground to be easily adapted to host a variety of events including NFL, Rugby, Concerts and Boxing.
The stadium is the third largest football stadium in England and the largest club stadium in London. At the previous Joshua v Usyk fight the venue hosted a record-breaking 66,267 spectators, the biggest capacity the venue has ever had.
It would seem fitting to have the epic rematch transform the stadium once again this July, which could see Joshua regain his heavyweight titles from Usyk.
