Wigan Warriors are a formidable team in the Betfred Super League, and are the most successful club in the history of World Rugby League. Find out their fixtures for the upcoming 2023 season and the players who will be key to their success.

The Wigan Warriors command a lot of respect in the world of rugby league, and as such, they are always considered as a challenger for every piece of silverware they compete for.

Last season, they added to their trophy cabinet, capturing the Challenge Cup for the first time since 2013 and their 20th overall.

However, they came up short in their search for Betfred Super League glory, as they lost out to eventual runners-up Leeds Rhinos in the Semi-finals.

But that will only motivate them to want to do more and go better this coming season, especially as they will look to knock St Helens off the top, who they beat on their way to winning the Challenge Cup.

The fixture list for the 2023 Betfred Super League season is now out, and here we detail when, where and who they will be playing, and the key players in the squad who will play a big part in their quest for League success.

We’ll also have the details on how you can secure premium Wigan Warriors hospitality packages to their home games this season.

Wigan Warriors 2023 Fixtures

The first weekend of the Betfred Super League 2023 season will be on Thursday 16th - Sunday 19th of February.

The final round (Round 27) will be on Thursday 21st - Sunday 24th of September. This will conclude the regular season, with the playoffs beginning the following week.

Each team will play 13 home games and 13 away games, and with the Magic Weekend, the total number of games played for every team will be 27.

Regular Season

The Wigan Warriors fixtures are:

Rivals Round

Rivals Round is a yearly occasion in the Super League, where every team plays against their fiercest rival on the same weekend.

For Wigan, that means another meeting with St Helens, the reigning league champions and most successful club in the Super League.

Wigan Warriors vs St Helens is on Friday 7th April at Wigan’s home, the DW Stadium.

Magic Weekend

Magic Weekend is the Super League’s celebration and promotion of the sport of rugby league.

The round is played entirely over the Saturday and Sunday at a single stadium, with that venue once again being Newcastle United FC’s St James’ Park.

Magic Weekend for the 2023 season will fall on the 3rd and 4th of June, with Wigan playing the Catalans Dragons on Saturday 3rd June.

Playoffs - Eliminators, Semi-finals and Grand Final

Round 27 will conclude the regular season, and the playoffs will begin the following weekend.

The first round of the playoffs is the Eliminators, where the teams who placed 3rd-6th in the league face off, with the winner going through to the Semi-finals. The Eliminators will be played on Friday 29th and Saturday 30th September.

The Semi-finals will see the winners from the Eliminators play the teams who finished 1st and 2nd in the table. Those two teams who finished top are given a rest week during the Eliminators, so they are in prime position to make a run at the championship.

Semi-finals weekend will be played on Friday 6th and Saturday 7th October.

Finally, the winners from the Semi-finals will go through to face each other in the Grand Final, with the big prize of the Super League championship on the line.

The Grand Final will be played on Saturday 14th October at Old Trafford, home of Manchester United FC.

Wigan Warriors Key Players

Wigan will be optimistic that they’ll be able to have a positive season. After finishing second in the table last season, they’ll want to go one better this year and take the League Leaders Shield.

Jai Field, Bevan French and Liam Farrell all made the 2022 Super League Dream Team, so there will be some expectations for them to be a driving force this season.

Field made the team in just his second season with Wigan, so very promising signs from him, with the fullback/ stand-off scoring a hat-trick last season against Leeds.

Bevan French is turning out to be one of Wigan’s best scorers. After missing Much of the 2021 season, 2022 proved to be a big year for the winger/ fullback.

The middle of the season saw a massive surge from him. In Round 15, he scored a hat-trick against Salford. In Round 18, he scored two tries in Wigan’s loss to St Helens at Magic Weekend. But he followed that disappointing weekend with a record seven try game in a 60-0 victory over Hull FC.

At the end of the season, French had scored 33 tries in 23 games, making the Dream Team for the second time and getting a two-year contract extension to stay with the club till 2024.

Wigan’s very own Liam Farrell has spent almost his entire career with the team (bar one season on loan with Championship side Widnes Vikings). His 12 year tenure with the club has seen him grow into a mighty player, who has the most caps in the current squad and fifth all-time for the club.

Farrell, nephew of Wigan legend Andy Farrell, has made the Dream Team in four consecutive seasons, and five in total.

The number 18 for the squad is possibly the most important, and it belongs to the loyal Wigan Warriors fans, who play a significant role by fearlessly displaying their magnificent support for their club.
