The Rugby Football League (RFL) runs the main rugby league knockout tournament in British Rugby League called the Challenge Cup. The 121st edition of the Challenge Cup, also known as the Betfred Challenge Cup, will be held in 2022.

The Betfred Challenge Cup is Rugby League's most prestigious competition and the only one of its kind to include teams from all levels of the sport. The Challenge Cup Final is one of the most exciting and biggest events of any Rugby League season.

Where is the Challenge Cup Final being held?

The 2022 Challenge Cup Final will be held at the new multi-purpose Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, which is a change from tradition. English Rugby's showpiece game will also mark the first ever Rugby League match to be played Spurs's home ground, which reportedly cost £1bn.

Tottenham Hotspur Chairman, Daniel Levy said: “We are delighted to bring yet another major sporting event to our stadium.

“The Challenge Cup Final is a game that is steeped in history and we are proud to now be a part of that, while further establishing our stadium as a leading sports and entertainment destination in London.”

Tottenham Stadium is also set to stage some of the most exciting sporting events in 2021, including the NFL London Games and the Anthony Joshua v Oleksandr Usyk fight.  

What date is the Challenge Cup Final?

The RFL has confirmed the Final will be played on the 28th of May 2022. This is another change to the competition, which usually stages the Final on August Bank Holiday.

The highly anticipated Final is due to kick off at 3 pm.
