About the Qatar Airways F1 partnership

Just one day before the start of the 2023 F1 testing period at the Bahrain International Circuit started, Formula 1 announced a brand new partnership with Qatar Airways, stating that the Airline of the Year will become the new Global Airline Partner of F1.

The deal comes with some changes for three races and benefits for fans and audiences. It also has an environmental benefit, as both companies will work together to reduce the environmental impact of their respective industries through responsible packages.

Formula 1 is doing so by using advanced sustainable fuels, which is part of their Net Zero 2030 commitment, while Qatar Airways is also committed to net zero carbon emissions by 2050.

The pair will work together on sustainability-focused initiatives to reduce emissions and help in the efforts for a greener future.

President & CEO of Formula 1 Stefano Dominicali said of the partnership “As the pinnacle of motorsport, it makes sense for Formula 1 to partner with a global leader in aviation like Qatar Airways. We are two brands committed to delivering the best experience to our fans and customers, and our combined reach globally makes this a perfect match.

"We also share a passion for technology and innovation, particularly as we all work together for a greener future. We are delighted to welcome Qatar Airways as our Global Airline Partner.

What races are involved in the Qatar Airways F1 partnership?

As part of the deal, the airline will take the title sponsorship of three Grands Prix this season - the Qatar Grand Prix, the Italian Grand Prix (at Imola), and the Hungarian Grand Prix will all get a slight rename to reflect the partnership.

Formula 1 Qatar Airways Qatar Grand Prix

The Losail International Circuit in Doha, Qatar, will be returning to the F1 calendar this season with the Qatar Grand Prix after featuring for the first time since the 2021 season.

It is a quick circuit, with Max Verstappen holding the F1 lap record with a 1:23.196. Lewis Hamilton won the first and only edition of the race so far.

It should come as no surprise that the Qatar Grand Prix is part of the Qatar Airways F1 partnership.

The race will be held 6th-8th October.

Formula 1 Qatar Airways Gran Premio del Made in Italy e dell'Emilia-Romagna

The Gran Premio del Made in Italy e dell'Emilia-Romagna, or simply known as the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix or Italian Grand Prix, is the second Italian race of the year, held at the legendary Autodromo Internazionale Enzo e Dino Ferrari circuit, better known as Imola.

Imola returned to the Formula 1 calendar in the 2020 season after having not been included since 2007. It was included to replace the Chinese Grand Prix, which was taken out due to the COVID-19 restrictions in the country.

The race returned for the 2021 and 2022 seasons for the same season, and after the latter race, it was announced that the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix would remain on the calendar until 2025.

The race will be held from 19th-21st May.

Formula 1 Qatar Airways Hungarian Grand Prix

The Hungarian Grand Prix has been a mainstay on the F1 calendar since 1986, being held at the Hungaroring every year since.

Lewis Hamilton is the most accomplished driver at the circuit by far, winning eight Grands Prix since 2007. That is a joint record for most wins at one circuit, a record he shares with himself at the British Grand Prix at Silverstone, and with Michael Schumacher at Magny-Cours for the French Grand Prix.

The race will be held from 21st-23rd July.

What benefits do fans get from the Qatar Airways F1 partnership?

The partnership will also bring benefits for fans at select races and for viewers globally at every race.

For the global audience, the deal will include trackside and digital branding, so there will be a lot more Qatar Airways branding at circuits and on the graphics on TV.

As for fans looking to attend races, Qatar Airways will be providing a limited number of travel packages to select Grands Prix for fans to witness all the action in person and experience the spectacle of a Formula 1 GP.

These packages will be more for the travel to the race, with return flights and race tickets available to purchase all in one package.

There are no details on whether the race ticket will be a standard general admission one or if it will be a grandstand ticket, as well as no details if it will be just for the Sunday or a multi-day ticket.

If you want a guarantee of benefits you can get at a Grand Prix, why not look to go premium and get a Formula 1 hospitality package?
