The domestic T20 is returning this year and promises to be jam-packed with great games and players.

What is T20 cricket?

T20 (Twenty20) is a 20 over competition designed to deliver fast-paced, exciting cricket. These games are much shorter than typical cricket matches which can go on for several days until a winner is decided.

Whilst delivering fantastic sporting entertainment, T20 is also a fun social event that often features music, fancy dress, food, and drink.

The T20 Vitality Blast is a domestic competition featuring 18 county teams.

When is the 2023 T20 Vitality Blast?

The opening night of the Vitality Blast is 20th May and will end with Finals Day at Edgbaston on 15th July.

Each county will play 7 home and 7 away group-stage matches.

Who is playing in the T20 Vitality Blast?

Unfortunately, the reigning champions, Hampshire Hawks, will not be competing in the 2023 T20 Vitality Blast.

There are 18 teams in total, and they are split up into two groups, with the

The groups will be split by Northern and Southern teams.

North Group - Birmingham Bears, Derbyshire Falcons, Durham, Lancashire Lightning, Leicestershire Foxes, Northamptonshire Steelbacks, Notts Outlaws, Worcestershire Rapids, Yorkshire Vikings.

South Group - Essex Eagles, Gloucestershire, Hampshire Hawks, Kent Spitfires, Glamorgan, Middlesex, Somerset, Surrey, Sussex Sharks.

Hampshire Hawks V Sussex Sharks

2023 will see the return of the 'El Clasicoast' rivalry between Hampshire and Sussex on 3rd June at the inimitable Ageas Bowl.

Sussex and Hampshire have established a strong rivalry that makes for tense and exciting games. The rivalry started in part to the close proximity of the two sides, but it also stems from the fact that it featured as the first ever game of T20 cricket.

The Leicestershire Foxes are always one to watch in the T20 as they are the most frequent winning titleholders. On 25th May, the Foxes will face the bigger county club team, Lancashire Lightning, who have held their first-class status since 1864.

Birmingham Bears vs Worcestershire Rapids

23rd June will see the two sides clash for the second time in the season, this time at the Bears’ home, the iconic Edgbaston.

Essex Eagles vs Kent Spitfires

Last season, Essex did the double over Kent, beating them in both games during the regular season on their way to a knock-out stage appearance, while Kent finished bottom of the Southern group.
