As the most successful Welsh team in the history of the Celtic League or Pro12, - now known as the United Rugby Championship (URC) - the Ospreys have had a number of club legends ply their craft with the side.

Here is a list of five of the best players in Ospreys team history, as well as information on premium seating at an Ospreys game.

Alun Wyn Jones

Starting off with the hometown hero, and all-round Welsh rugby legend, Alun Wyn Jones makes a strong case for being the greatest Ospreys player of all time.

Playing as a lock, Jones has been with the Ospreys since 2005. He is a former captain of the team and has won the URC three times from the teams’ four total.

He is the most capped Ospreys player of all time, as well as the most capped Welsh player of all time, the most capped Wales captain, and the world’s most-capped rugby union player.

He captained the British & Irish Lions during their 2021 tour of South Africa, and is one of only four players to be selected for four Lions tours. He is also one of seven Welsh players to have won three Grand Slams to go along with his five Six Nations Championships, where in the 2019 victory he was named Player of the Championship.

Dan Biggar

Dan Biggar is the all-time leading point scorer for the Ospreys. Another local lad, he came through the club's development pathway and became the youngest player to reach 100 club appearances at just 22 years old.

The fly-half played for the team from 2007-2018 and has the most points in club history, scoring 2,203 before moving on to the Northampton Saints in 2018.

Alongside his record for youngest player to reach 100 caps, Biggar also holds the record for youngest player to reach 200 caps, doing so at the age of 27. Overall, he had 210 with the Ospreys and won two URC titles in his time with the club. He also won URC Player of the Year honours in the 2013/14 season.

Adam Jones

One of the most recognisable players on the field at any time, Adam Jones played for the Ospreys from 2003-2014, meaning he was part of every one of their URC title victories.

In the early parts of his career, he was criticised for his lack of scrummaging power. But after learning the intricacies of the craft, he became one of the world’s greats, and since retiring he has become the scrum coach at Harlequins.

He is best remembered as a Wales legend, joining Alun Wyn Jones as one of the seven players to win three Grand Slams, but he is also fondly remembered as an Ospreys legend for his fantastic service to the team.

Shane Williams MBE

Famous for his long and successful career as a winger for the Ospreys and Wales team, Shane Williams is an all-time great in rugby and is considered to be one of the greatest wingers of all time.

Williams played for the Ospreys from 2003-2012, signing off for the team the only way he knows how - scoring two tries in the 2012 URC final (known as the Pro12 then) to give the team the victory.

In 2008, he won the World Rugby Men’s 15s Player of the Year - the only Welsh player to date to win such an award - and in 2016, Williams was inducted into the World Rugby Hall of Fame.

Duncan Jones

Duncan Jones joins Adam Jones and Shane Williams as players who joined in 2003 and won it all with Ospreys.

Jones captained the side during the title-winning 2006/07 season and was a major part of all four of their URC title victories.

While he was described as “not the biggest guy” for a prop, he had exceptional speed, mobility and ball-handling skills.

Despite all his club and country success, Jones might be best known for being one-half of the “Hair Bears” - he and Adam Jones played alongside each other for both Ospreys and Wales, and were always recognisable for their long curly hair.
