About Amyl and the Sniffers
Amyl and the Sniffers formed in Melbourne in 2016, with vocalist Amy Taylor joined by guitarist Declan Mehrtens, drummer Bryce Wilson and bassist Gus Romer. The group developed their sound through Australian pub rock and punk influences, combining short, direct songs with Taylor’s distinctive vocal delivery.
Their self-titled debut album arrived in 2019 and won Best Rock Album at the ARIA Awards. They followed it with Comfort to Me in 2021, featuring tracks including ‘Guided by Angels’, ‘Security’ and ‘Hertz’.
Their third studio album, Cartoon Darkness, arrived in 2024 and became their first UK top 10 album, reaching number nine. The record includes ‘U Should Not Be Doing That’, ‘Chewing Gum’, ‘Big Dreams’, ‘Jerkin’ and ‘Tiny Bikini’.
The band have continued releasing music since then. In 2025, they collaborated with Fred again.. on ‘you’re a star’, before releasing Truth or Consequence (Live from El Coyote) in 2026. The live project features reworked versions of songs from their catalogue alongside previously unreleased material.
If Amyl and the Sniffers return to the UK in 2027, their recent output could sit alongside favourites from Cartoon Darkness, Comfort to Me and their debut album.
