About OMD

Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark, better known as OMD, formed in Wirral in 1978 and became one of the defining British electronic groups of the late 1970s and 1980s. Led by Andy McCluskey and Paul Humphreys, the band developed a sound combining synth-pop, new wave and experimental electronic music, producing songs including ‘Electricity’, ‘Messages’, ‘Enola Gay’, ‘Souvenir’, ‘Joan of Arc’, ‘Maid of Orleans’ and ‘If You Leave’.

Their influence has continued well beyond their original breakthrough, with OMD recognised as pioneers of British electronic pop. The band reunited during the 2000s and have since released further studio albums and undertaken major international tours.

Their most recent studio album is Bauhaus Staircase, released in 2023. OMD followed it with Bauhaus Staircase (The Complete Edition) in 2025, expanding the project with additional tracks, remixes, instrumentals and live recordings from the accompanying tour.

That continued recording activity, combined with further UK performances in 2026, means OMD remain an active live act heading towards 2027 – although no UK tour for that year has currently been announced.
