When is the Ryder Cup 2023?

Led by captain Luke Donald, Team Europe is set to welcome Team USA, headed by Zach Johnson, for the premier event taking place from 29th September to 1st October 2023.

Team USA will be defending the trophy after their resounding victory at Whistling Straits in 2021.

European Ryder Cup Standings 2023

The road to qualification commenced at the esteemed BMW PGA Championship in September of last year and will culminate on 3rd September 2023.

The European team will consist of the top three players on the European Points List, showcasing their exceptional golfing prowess and securing their well-deserved spots on the team.

Furthermore, in a bid to ensure the team comprises the best possible talent, the top three players on the World Points List who haven't already qualified through the European standings will also earn their coveted places on Team Europe.

Unlike his predecessor, Padraig Harrington, Captain Luke Donald will have the privilege of selecting six captain's picks as he assembles his European dream team.

This new qualification process solidifies the importance of each player's performance, making the race to earn a spot on Team Europe even more fiercely competitive.

Team USA Ryder Cup Standings

Zach Johnson, the captain of the USA team, shares an equal count of wildcard selections with his counterpart, Luke Donald.

The USA use different criteria than Europe to select their team. Qualifying points for U.S. players are acquired through earnings amassed between the 2022 and 2023 BMW Championships.

Following the conclusion of the BMW Championship, the leading six individuals on the points ranking will secure positions on the U.S. roster.

The decision about including LIV golfers in Johnson's team remains uncertain, especially if they do not secure automatic qualification.

Although Johnson has refrained from divulging his stance on the matter, he did mention in July that LIV players hold ‘technical’ eligibility for a spot within his 12-player team.

Qualification ends on August 20, 2023, upon the conclusion of the BMW Championship, the penultimate FedEx Cup Playoff tournament.
