With the announcement of two huge Metallica headline sets at Download Festival in 2023 and a Europe and America tour, could we be getting a UK tour to follow? Find out everything you need to know about a possible Metallica UK tour in 2023, including dates, venues and how to get VIP tickets.

Legendary Los Angeles rockers Metallica were formed in 1981, and are considered one of the pioneers of thrash metal. Along with fellow icons Megadeth, Anthrax and Slayer they form the genre’s ‘Big 4’.

The band has released ten studio albums and sold over 125 million records worldwide, making them one of the most successful bands of all time.

Metallica’s last six albums have debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 and in reward for their huge success, they were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2009.

Recently the metal superstars announced that they would be playing not one, but two headline sets at Download Festival 2023, as well as a 18 date European tour. Could Metallica also announce more UK dates to couple with their two festival appearances?

Keep reading to find out everything you need to know about possible dates, venues and how to get VIP tickets.

Are Metallica releasing any new music?

Metallica have not released a new album since ‘Hardwired… to Self-Destruct’ in 2016.

However, the band have now confirmed that their next album titled '72 Seasons' will be released on April 14th 2023.

Fans can enjoy a teaser of the new record by checking out the band's new track release, 'Lux Æterna'.

The album is set for release on the 14th of April, and fans will to ecstatic to finally be getting some new Metallica music.

When did Metallica last tour?

In summer 2022, Metallica completed a set of European concert dates which included festival appearances across the continent, starting at Denmark’s Copenhell and concluding at Portugal’s NOS Alive.

During their ‘The Return of the European Summer Vacation’ stint, the band unfortunately did not make an appearance at any UK destinations.

This means that Metallica have not performed in the UK since their ‘The WorldWired Tour’ dates at Manchester Etihad Stadium and London Twickenham Stadium in 2019.

Will Metallica tour in 2023?

With the band set to travel to Europe and America for their upcoming 'M72 World Tour', it is highly likely that they could announce further plans to come back to British shores in the not-so-distant future.

As of now, the only scheduled UK dates are two massive headline sets at Download Festival 2023. However, when speaking of their 2022 European summer show dates, the band told fans to “stay tuned - we’ll be back soon to keep adding to this list.”

The Download performances will take place on the Thursday and Saturday of the festival and will have two completely different setlists, so no repeats!

Similarly, their confirmed tour dates are titled 'No Repeat Weekend' and will see the band play two nights at the same venue with each night featuring a different set and different opening acts.

The announcement of these shows and a tour has got fans on high alert that the “Enter Sandman” singers could announce a UK tour to accompany them.

Therefore, we anticipate that after missing out on performing at venues in the UK this year, the metal legends will be returning to play to their loyal British fans sooner rather than later.

Where will Metallica tour in the UK?

With rumours now circulating around the release of more upcoming Metallica concert dates in the UK, we predict where the band will play next.
