Manchester United

Manchester United are the most successful club in the history of the Community Shield, having taken home the title 21 times. They've so far achieved 17 outright wins and 4 shared after a draw.  

United also hold the record for the highest-scoring game in their 8 - 4 win against Swindon Town in 1911.

While the Red Devils have been dominant in the competition, Erik ten Hag's team will be eager to claim the trophy in 2024, as their last Community Shield victory came in 2016 under the management of Jose Mourinho.

Arsenal

With 17 total wins, The Gunners are the second-most successful club in the competition. They have a strong Community Shield record having 16 outright wins and only 1 shared.

Arsenal last won the Community Shield last year after beating current Premier League title holders Manchester City 4-1 on penalties, following a 1-1 draw at Wembley Stadium.

The Gunners' win meant City were denied the trophy for the third consecutive season in which Pip Guardiola's side has lost the match.  

Liverpool

Liverpool sit just behind Arsenal in the list of clubs with the most Community Shield wins, having 16 titles to their name.

The Reds are one of only three clubs to have won the competition more than ten times.  

After securing a 3-1 victory over Manchester City in the 2022 FA Community Shield final, Jurgen Klopp’s team has now matched Arsenal on the all-time list.

With this win, Liverpool's total tally stands at 11 outright wins and 5 shared titles, cementing their formidable record in the competition.

Everton

Despite Everton's struggles to finish in the Premier League top four in recent years, the Merseyside club has certainly left its mark in football history.

With 9 Community Shield wins in total - 8 of them outright and 1 shared - their record speaks for itself.

Everton's appearances in the competition date back to as early as 1928, with their most recent triumph being back in 1995, when they beat Blackburn Rovers 1-0 at the iconic Wembley Stadium.

Tottenham Hotspur

Despite Tottenham Hotspur experiencing a recent drought in trophy wins, the club boasts a storied past, having claimed victory in the Community Shield 7 times. However, the last appearance for the North London side was in 1991.

On 10th August 10th 1991, the competition, then known as the Charity Shield, showcased a North London derby between Tottenham and Arsenal.

This rare occurrence came about because Tottenham had won the FA Cup while Arsenal had clinched the Premier League title.

This match remains the only time these rivals have met in the competition. The game ended in a 0-0 draw, and as the rules at the time did not include a penalty shootout, both teams shared the trophy for six months each.  

Manchester City

Manchester City have won the Community Shield 6 times, all as outright victories, with their most recent win occurring in 2019.

In that match, they drew 1-1 with Liverpool and secured the title by winning 5-4 in the penalty shootout.

Today, the Sky Blues stand as a dominant force in English football, and this summer presents another opportunity for them to add to their impressive record in the competition.

Chelsea

Chelsea has secured the Community Shield trophy outright 4 times. In their most recent victory in 2009, they faced Manchester United in a thrilling encounter that ended in a 2-2 draw.

Goals were scored by Nani and Wayne Rooney for Manchester United, and by Ricardo Carvalho and Frank Lampard for Chelsea. The Blues emerged triumphant in the penalty shootout, defeating United 4-1.

Notably, this match marked Chelsea's first professional win on penalties since 1998.

Wolves

Wolverhampton Wanderers have claimed the Community Shield 4 times in total, with 1 outright win and 3 shared victories. Their last triumph dates back to 1960, marking a considerable gap since celebrating a victory.

In the 38th Charity Shield, Wolves squared off against Burnley, resulting in a shared trophy. The two clubs had been fierce contenders for the league title in the prior season, with Burnley narrowly edging out Wolves by a single point.

This close competition denied the Midlands club a third consecutive league championship and the opportunity to achieve the first 'double' of the 20th century.

The current performance of Wolves leaves uncertainty lingering on when they might have another shot at competing for trophy.

Leeds United

Leeds United has triumphed in the Community Shield twice, securing 2 outright wins.

Their most recent appearance in the fixture occurred in 1992, when they clinched a thrilling 4-3 victory against the 1991-92 FA Cup champions, Liverpool.
