U2 could be preparing for one of the most anticipated rock tours of 2027.

While Bono, The Edge, Adam Clayton and Larry Mullen Jr. have not officially announced a U2 2027 tour, there are increasingly strong reasons for fans to watch the coming months closely. With the band are back together in the studio, new music is arriving - indicating that performing live remains central to their plans.

Their last full-scale touring run was The Joshua Tree Tour 2019, while U2 Achtung Baby Live At Sphere brought Bono, The Edge and Adam Clayton to Las Vegas for 40 shows between September 2023 and March 2024. Larry Mullen Jr. did not perform during the Sphere residency, with Bram van den Berg taking his place behind the drums.

Now, with all four members working together again and U2 preparing their first new studio album in nine years, could 2027 finally mark the band's return to a worldwide tour?

Will U2 tour in 2027?

At the time of writing, U2 have not officially confirmed a 2027 tour or announced any tour dates.

However, there is substantial evidence that another major run of live shows is part of the band's plans.

U2 released the six-track Days of Ash EP in February 2026, followed by another six-track collection, Easter Lily, in April. In July, the band released ‘Street of Dreams’, officially described as the first song from their forthcoming studio album.

U2 confirmed that the record will be their first new studio album in nine years, following Songs of Experience in 2017. ‘Street of Dreams’ was produced by long-time collaborator Jacknife Lee.

Perhaps most significantly for anyone hoping to see U2 live, Bono described the forthcoming record in April as an album the band wanted to "play LIVE", adding that the stage is "where U2 lives".

A new album and the return of all four members therefore make the prospect of a major U2 tour particularly compelling.

When could a U2 2027 tour be announced?

There is currently no confirmed U2 tour announcement date, so any prospective timeline should be treated cautiously.

The band's new studio album is due later in 2026. U2 fan site U2Songs, which has been tracking reports surrounding the group's plans, currently reports that a world tour is expected to begin in early 2027, potentially following the album's release.

Those reports remain unofficial.

Nevertheless, an album-first, tour-second schedule would be consistent with comments previously made by Adam Clayton. Speaking in 2024 about the band's future, Clayton said U2 wanted to complete a record of new songs before going out to tour it.

The Edge has also spoken publicly about the desire to return to live performance. Discussing U2's plans in early 2025, he said the band were hoping to play shows after their Las Vegas residency had prevented them from reaching much of their international audience.

For now, fans should wait for confirmation through U2's official channels before treating any reported dates, venues or ticket information as final.

Where could U2 tour in 2027?

This is where the speculation becomes particularly interesting.

U2Songs reported in August 2026 that current plans point towards an early-2027 opening in Latin America, followed by European stadium dates later in the year. The site stresses that the tour remains unannounced and that routing could change.

Mexico has emerged as a possible starting point after Bono spoke during a visit to the country in May 2026 about the band's hopes of beginning their next tour there.

If the reported plans develop into a confirmed itinerary, the tour could then travel through South America before reaching Europe in late spring or summer.

For UK fans, a European stadium leg would naturally raise questions about a potential U2 London concert.

U2 have a considerable history of stadium performances in the capital. Their The Joshua Tree Tour 2017, for example, included two nights at Twickenham Stadium. However, no UK city or venue has been confirmed for 2027, and suggestions of London dates currently remain speculative.

The band have also not announced whether North America, Asia or Australia and New Zealand would feature on a potential tour.

Could U2 play Wembley Stadium in 2027?

A U2 Wembley Stadium concert would undoubtedly be one of the biggest potential UK music events of 2027, but there is currently no official indication that the band will perform at Wembley.

The venue would, however, suit the scale associated with U2's biggest tours.
