Bristol Rovers was founded in 1883 and has played home matches at Memorial Stadium, Horfield since 1996.
The club’s official nickname is ‘The Pirates’, due to the maritime history of Bristol. Meanwhile, fans of the club refer to it as ‘The Gas’ because of the gasworks that were located next to its former home of Eastville Stadium.
Bristol Rovers secured their promotion to League One in 2015-16. They were relegated to League Two in 2020-21 but returned at the first attempt and have remained in League One since. The club has not been at the top of the League since the 1958-9 season when they placed sixth and were just four points from promotion.
Bristol Rovers will be competing in League One of the EFL throughout the 24/25 season. After finishing 15th in 23/24, Bristol Rovers will be hoping to improve their position in the upcoming season and solidify their position in League One with new signings including midfielder Isaac Hutchinson.
