About AMT Headingley Stadium
AMT Headingley Stadium is one of Leeds’ most iconic sporting venues, combining more than 130 years of sporting heritage with modern facilities and premium matchday experiences. Located in the heart of Headingley, the stadium is home to the Leeds Rhinos and forms part of the famous Headingley sporting complex alongside Headingley Cricket Ground, the home of Yorkshire County Cricket Club.
The rugby stadium dates back to 1890, with the first rugby match taking place on 20 September that year. Since then, Headingley has hosted some of the biggest names, fixtures and moments in rugby league, establishing itself as one of the most recognisable sporting venues in the UK.

The Home of Leeds Rhinos
AMT Headingley is synonymous with the Leeds Rhinos, one of rugby league’s most recognised clubs. The Rhinos have played at Headingley for more than a century, with the stadium hosting domestic rugby league, international fixtures and major cup matches throughout its history.
The venue's rugby league heritage includes a record league attendance of 40,175, recorded for Leeds v Bradford Northern on 21 May 1947. Headingley has also hosted major representative and cup fixtures, including the first Northern Union Test match between Great Britain and New Zealand in 1908.
A Unique Sporting Venue in Leeds
One of the things that makes Headingley particularly distinctive is its combination of rugby and cricket at the same sporting complex. Headingley Cricket Ground has been home to Yorkshire County Cricket Club since 1890 and has hosted Test cricket since 1899.
The venue has continued to evolve over the years, with significant redevelopment introducing modern spectator, hospitality and event facilities while retaining the character and history that make Headingley such a special sporting destination.
In 2023, the rugby stadium became AMT Headingley Rugby Stadium following a 15-year naming-rights partnership with Leeds-based vehicle solutions business AMT Auto.
