About The Corrs

The Corrs are an Irish family band that combines pop rock with traditional Irish themes in their music. The group consists of the Corr siblings: Andrea (lead vocals, tin whistle, mandolin, ukulele), Sharon (violin, keyboards, vocals), Caroline (drums, percussion, piano, bodhrán, vocals), and Jim (guitar, piano, keyboards, vocals).

Formed in 1990, The Corrs have been active in two main periods: 1990 to 2006 and from 2015 to the present1. They have sold over 40 million albums worldwide since their debut album "Forgiven Not Forgotten" in 19952. Throughout their career, their music has gained popularity and they have become global stars.

The Corrs' music is characterized by a unique blend of contemporary pop-rock with traditional Irish influences. They often incorporate instruments such as tin whistle, violin, and bodhrán into their songs, infusing them with a distinct Celtic sound.

Aside from their music, The Corrs have also garnered recognition for their contributions to film. For example, three members of the band, Jim, Caroline, and Sharon, had parts in the 1991 film "The Commitments," which helped raise their profile.

The Corrs' dedication to their family is evident in their albums, which are all dedicated to their parents, Jean Corr and Gerry Corr.

Musical Style

The Corrs' music is often described as a fusion of pop rock, Celtic, and folk genres. Their songs feature intricate harmonies, catchy melodies, and a mix of traditional Irish instruments with modern pop elements.

Breakthrough Success

The Corrs achieved international recognition with their second studio album, "Talk On Corners" (1997), which became a massive hit. The album spawned several successful singles, including "Only When I Sleep," "I Never Loved You Anyway," and their standout hit "Breathless."

Over their career, The Corrs have collaborated with various artists from different genres. Notably, they joined forces with renowned musicians such as Bono from U2, Alejandro Sanz, Robert Plant, Josh Groban, and Roger Waters.

Hiatus and Solo Projects

After nearly a decade of constant activity, The Corrs went on a hiatus in 2006 to focus on their personal lives and solo projects. During this time, Andrea pursued a successful solo career, releasing albums such as "Ten Feet High" (2007) and "Lifelines" (2011).

In 2015, The Corrs announced their comeback and released their sixth studio album, "White Light." The album was followed by a world tour, which marked their return to the music scene.

The Corrs have been involved in various charitable initiatives throughout their career. They have performed at numerous benefit concerts, and in 2005, they joined the Band-Aid 20 project to raise funds for famine relief in Africa.
