About Leicester City

Founded in 1884 as Leicester Fosse, the club began in local football before joining the Football League in 1894. In 1919, following the end of the First World War, they rebranded as Leicester City to reflect their city’s new status.

The Foxes have experienced fluctuating fortunes over the decades — bouncing between divisions in the post-war years, producing legendary players such as Gordon Banks, and lifting their first major trophy, the 1964 League Cup.

Their defining modern moment came in the 2015/16 Premier League season, when Claudio Ranieri guided the club to one of the greatest sporting underdog stories in history. Leicester defied 5,000-1 odds to claim their first-ever top-flight title, powered by the goals of Jamie Vardy (who broke Ruud van Nistelrooy’s consecutive scoring record), the creativity of Riyad Mahrez, and the tireless midfield work of N’Golo Kanté.

Further silverware followed in 2021, when they won their first FA Cup, defeating Chelsea 1-0 thanks to Youri Tielemans’ stunning long-range strike. That same year, they also claimed the FA Community Shield.

While recent seasons have been turbulent, with managerial changes and squad turnover contributing to relegation in 2025, the club retains a strong core and a committed fanbase. The mission for this campaign is to return to the Premier League stronger and more resilient than ever.

King Power Stadium – The Home of Leicester City

Since opening in 2002, the King Power Stadium has been a modern, purpose-built home for Leicester City, replacing the historic Filbert Street. Its bowl design, 32,261 capacity, and state-of-the-art LED lighting create a lively matchday experience.

Expansion plans approved in 2022 could take capacity to 40,000, alongside new facilities to enhance the supporter experience. Located just a short walk from the city centre, it’s a ground known for its close proximity to the pitch and an electric atmosphere — especially on big matchdays.

The fiercest rivalry, separated by only 30 miles, with meetings dating back to 1901. The head-to-head record is incredibly tight, with both sides having won 41 times each in 109 games.
