Are AC/DC releasing a new album?

AC/DC made a triumphant comeback with their seventeenth studio album titled 'Power Up'. Released on November 13th, 2020, under Columbia Records, this album carries a significant meaning for the band and their fans.

Notably, it marks the return of vocalist Brian Johnson, drummer Phil Rudd, and bassist Cliff Williams, who left AC/DC at various points, before, during, and after the supporting tour for their previous album, 'Rock or Bust' in 2014.

'Power Up' serves as a tribute to the late co-founder and rhythm guitarist, Malcolm Young, who passed away in 2017. In a touching gesture, all the songs on the album feature posthumous songwriting credits for Malcolm. These tracks were previously unreleased and had been written by Malcolm and his brother, Angus Young.

When Rolling Stone magazine asked about the album's significance, Angus Young expressed, "This record is pretty much a dedication to Malcolm, my brother. It's a tribute for him like Back in Black was a tribute to Bon Scott."

When did AC/DC stop touring?

AC/DC's last performance in Europe was their 2016 show at Dusseldorf's Espirit Arena. Their newly announced live dates will also mark their first concert since their comeback at the Power Trip festival in Indio, California in October 2023.

The band closed out the second night of the festival with a massive 24-song set, featuring Brian Johnson and Cliff Williams returning to the lineup, and the show received rave reviews.

Fans are eager to experience big hits like 'Highway to Hell' live again after a long 7 year wait since their last tour.

What was AC/DC setlist at Power Trip in 2023?

The Australian heavy metal band’s last setlist for the show in Düsseldorf, Germany included the following songs:

  1. Rock or Bust
  2. Shoot to Thrill
  3. Hell Ain't a Bad Place to Be
  4. Back in Black

Was Brian Johnson at Sam Fender's St James' Park show?

Last summer of last year, Geordie singer-songwriter sensation Sam Fender graced the stage for two headline gigs at St James' Park in his hometown of Newcastle. Sam welcomed a fellow local legend, none other than AC/DC's iconic frontman, Brian Johnson, for a surprise guest appearance.

For Johnson, this marked his first live performance since the Taylor Hawkins tribute show back in September of 2022. Together, they treated the audience to thrilling renditions of AC/DC's beloved rock anthems, 'Back In Black' and 'You Shook Me All Night Long'.

After the gigs, which saw the pair play to over 100,000 fans, Sam took posted on social media: 'The last few days have been insane. Sharing the stage with @brianjohnsontv was a dream come true. When we first started seeing success with our band, me and Dean used to watch interviews of Brian to keep ourselves grounded - he is the prime example of a Geordie who has never forgotten his roots.'
