Darren Edwards guided them to an Anglo‑Welsh Cup semi‑final in 2011, and in 2015 they triumphed in the Welsh Premiership 7s and at the Twickenham Stoop. In mid‑2017, the WRU took ownership and rebranded them simply as Dragons. A 2022 rebrand added “RFC” to re‑emphasise club identity, and in June 2023 a private consortium led by David Buttress and David Wright purchased both Panthers and Rodney Parade.
