About Sam Fender

North Shields-born Sam Fender emerged as one of the UK’s most prominent singer-songwriters after winning the BRITs Critics’ Choice Award in 2019. His debut album, Hypersonic Missiles, arrived later that year and reached number one in the UK, establishing his combination of guitar-led rock, observational songwriting and stories inspired by life in the North East.

He followed it with Seventeen Going Under in 2021. The album also reached number one, while its title track became one of Fender’s best-known songs alongside ‘Hypersonic Missiles’, ‘Will We Talk?’, ‘Spit of You’ and ‘Getting Started’.

Fender’s third album, People Watching, arrived in February 2025 and became his third consecutive UK number one studio album. It delivered the biggest opening week of his career and became the biggest new British album release of 2025. The record later won the 2025 Mercury Prize.

The People Watching era also brought another substantial period of touring. Fender launched the People Watching Tour with sold-out UK and Ireland arena shows in late 2024, including multiple performances in London, Glasgow and other major cities, before taking the tour across Europe and North America.

His UK shows grew even larger in 2025. Fender performed his biggest headline concert at the time in London before returning home for three sold-out nights at Newcastle’s St James’ Park. More than 150,000 fans were expected across the three hometown performances alone, following two previous sold-out stadium shows there in 2023.

Fender continued releasing music after the original People Watching album. A deluxe edition arrived in December 2025 with eight additional tracks, including ‘Talk To You’ featuring Elton John and a new version of ‘Rein Me In’ with Olivia Dean.

‘Rein Me In’ subsequently became a major UK chart success in 2026 and won Song of the Year at the BRIT Awards, while Fender also retained the Alternative/Rock Act award. As things stand, a fourth Sam Fender studio album has not been officially announced.

With the People Watching era having produced a number one album, major awards and some of the biggest concerts of Fender’s career, another UK live chapter in 2027 would attract considerable interest if further shows are announced.

What are Sam Fender performances like?

Sam Fender’s performances combine guitar-driven rock with the personal storytelling at the heart of his songwriting. His setlists can move between reflective tracks and expansive choruses, giving you quieter moments alongside songs designed for thousands of people to sing together.

Tracks such as ‘Seventeen Going Under’, ‘Hypersonic Missiles’, ‘People Watching’ and ‘The Borders’ have become important parts of his live catalogue, while newer material from People Watching has given his recent performances another chapter to explore.

His progression from arenas to large outdoor venues and stadiums has also demonstrated how comfortably his music translates to bigger stages. The People Watching Tour gave Fender the opportunity to bring both his newer songs and established favourites to some of the largest audiences of his career.

If Sam Fender performs in the UK in 2027, the precise production and setlist would depend on what is officially announced. If VIP or hospitality experiences become available, you could enjoy the performance alongside premium facilities and a more comfortable concert experience.
